The referee allowed the bout to continue, and Topuria showed heart by fighting through the damage, but Gaethje continued landing clean shots and forcing the champion into another brutal round. After Round 4, Topuria returned to his corner badly damaged, and his team made the decision to stop the fight before the final round could begin. Justin Gaethje wins by corner stoppage and becomes the unified UFC lightweight champion, ending Topuria’s undefeated run in one of the most dramatic fights of the year.
