Publisher's Summary The sequel to the New York Times best seller Skyward! From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Reckoners series, Words of Radiance, the Mistborn trilogy, and the Stormlight Archive comes the second book in an epic series about a girl with a secret in a dangerous world at war for humanity's future. All her life, Spensa has dreamed of becoming a pilot. Of proving she's a hero like her father. She made it to the sky, but the truths she learned about her father were crushing. The rumors of his cowardice are true - he deserted his flight during battle against the Krell. Worse, though, he turned against his team and attacked them. Spensa is sure there's more to the story. And she's sure that whatever happened to her father in his starship could happen to her. When she made it outside the protective shell of her planet, she heard the stars - and it was terrifying. Everything Spensa has been taught about her world is a lie. But Spensa also discovered a few other things about herself - and she'll travel to the end of the galaxy to save humankind if she needs to. "[A] nonstop, highflying opener." (Kirkus Reviews, starred review) "With this action-packed trilogy opener, Sanderson offers up a resourceful, fearless heroine and a memorable cast." (Publishers Weekly) "Sanderson delivers a cinematic adventure that explores the defining aspects of the individual versus the society.... Fans of Sanderson will not be disappointed." Great characters and story! I’m hooked and I can’t wait to follow the adventure. Really well done.
Once again Brandon Sanderson blows it out of the park. Here it is only 24 hours after the release, and I'm already eagerly awaiting Part Three.
But unfortunately, the book itself is... well is fine. It's not the typical sanderson insane quality, it's just... okay.
First book finish with satisfying conclusion & big question. This one ends with generic adventure promises.
Liked the book, but my biggest struggle with it was all of the gender pronoun nonsense. I understand that they are aliens, but it seemed to be brought up more than necessary.
I enjoyed the first book in the series so much that I pre-ordered this one. Narrator was still very good but the story was really lacking in depth of characters etc.it ended as a cliff hanger so am hoping the next will be back up to the standards of the first and other Sanderson books.
The plural use of they, they're is super confusing and unneeded. it's almost sociopathic pandering.
narrator was good but the book was written without an ending.wait for the sequel.
it's awesome and it's amazing and I really hope the author makes a number three I love this book and my mom likes it tooand I really like the narrator's voice when she reads the book that is all I have to say and now I am done.this is a review from a nine-year-old
I really struggled to finish it. And I love Sanderson books. I just didn't find it to be a compelling story, Spenca's never really in danger, And so whenever there's a perilous situation You're never really that worried about her.
