Publisher's Summary Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest. ©2022 Jim Butcher (P)2022 Podium Audio

So Butcher is mixing it up more with the story, but the novella wasn't worth 20 bucks. Butcher's narrating was passable, but he is no Marsden. I wanted to return the book three quarters of the way through, but Audible wouldn't let me.This was disappointing and to be honest, I think it's overhyped by the reviews. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I'm a long time Dresden fan, but this story is subpar and Jim just needs to stick to writing. It seems like he is just over writing Harry's emotions, and attitudes. The first few "not chapters" are painful to listen to/read. Jim, please stop with the diversions and just finish writing Dresden Files. Edit.1 why does Jim makeus John Wayne's voice for Harry?
this series has been a favorite of mine for years. but I just can't follow down the path that it's going. the last couple of books were a money grab, but the whole entertainment business is that way so I tried to overlook it. but this....this isn't even a thinly veiled attempt at just taking money away from fans.usually this series is done as world class writing performed by world class talent. this one did not have the usual performance talent going for it. hey, it's his baby, he can choose to make it an ego project if he wants, make it all about him, as he did. the performance was so grating that I honestly don't know if it was just the performance or if the writing itself didn't life up to the high standard the he set for himself. and honestly this was such a disappointment that I can't bring myself to listen to it again to try to figure it out.I don't know if I'm going to get the next one, maybe I've just outgrown the series. it was a great series.
Outstanding!!!!!I love love love Harry Dresden.AndbI loved listening to the authors interpretation -- which often sounded a LOT like James Marsters!Very nicely done.
This was a very mediocre work. Skin Game feels like the last time Butcher's heart was in the story. The Law seems to have been written for no other reason than exposition, but even then the story is not engaging, the new characters are bland and one dimensional, and the old characters make nonsensical decisions that only serve as MacGuffins to move the story along. The novella tries to walk the line between supernatural and a mystery, but fails miserably at both.
not bad but please re do with james marsters! please! good try Jim but stick with your writing, and let James do the talking! fun little book.
I am a huge Dresden follower! Jim I LOVE your books, especially the Dresden series and eagerly wait for each new book to come out. Please never stop writing. I understand if JM could not read and in a pinch you needed to have someone else read. But please next time pick another actor. You are a wonderful writer but you are not an actor. Your performance was so distracting I could not tell if this was a good story or not. I’d love for this to be reread my JM. You have to understand, after 17 books, JM is as much Dresden as the words you write. If you want to read your own works, I get that. But start with a character that is not established yet.
