This is when Cody Rhodes forced Booker T out of retirement. Cody came out in July 2011 with his paper bag boys and one of them gave a bag to Booker, who was visibly angry. Booker received another bag next week. Booker got another one a week later and Michael Cole even mocked him. Same thing happened two weeks later and Booker was furious. Two weeks later, Cody faced Ezekiel Jackson for the Intercontinental Title, while Booker got another bag. Cody hit Ezekiel with the Cross Rhodes to win the title. The disrespect continued a month later. Two months later, Cody faced Santino Marella. Cody hit Santino with the Cross Rhodes to win the match. Cody told Booker he heard his critiques and doesn’t appreciate them, throwing a glass of water in his face. On Smackdown, Cody said he saw Booker’s mocking face and had to do something about it. A week later, Mick Foley hosted a special holiday episode and Booker was invited. Cody interrupted, saying he sees a lonely commentator who mocks him during his matches, adding that at least he has the skills to compete. Booker said he has no beef with Cody and doesn’t want to fight him, but he can still handle his business. Cody called him a liar, he does have a beef with him because he can never hold a title ever again. Foley had enough of Cody’s insults and put them in a match. Booker talked about it, Cody attacked him from behind, hit him with the title and the match never happened. A week later, Cody attacked Booker, threw him into the barricade and started assaulting him until he was stopped. Lilian Garcia made her return and Cody interrupted her. He said no one cares she returned, hopes his message was clear by attacking Booker and took his place on commentary. Later that night, things got heated between Daniel Bryan and Michael Cole. Bryan went after Cole, Cody attacked him and started assaulting him until he was stopped. They had a match later that night. Booker appeared and attacked Cody, ending in a DQ. Cody demanded a match with Booker and Teddy made it official for the title
