This is when Daniel Bryan proved Big Cass wrong. In April 2018, Bryan had an interview. A returning Cass interrupted him, mocking his height, asking why everyone is talking about him, calling him a little man. Later that night, Bryan and AJ Styles faced Aiden English and Rusev. Cass hit Bryan with a big boot, ending in a DQ and standing tall over him. The Miz hosted his show a week later and called out Bryan. Cass appeared instead, saying no one cares about Bryan. He said Bryan had a career threatening injury and so did he. When he finally got cleared, Bryan also got cleared and his return was overshadowed by Bryan’s, calling him an ordinary little man. Then Bryan was found on the floor backstage. Later that night, Bryan said it was Cass and at Greatest Royal Rumble, Bryan will show him who he is dealing with. Bryan entered at number 1 and Cass entered at number 49, where Cass eliminated Bryan. On Smackdown, a match was announced for Backlash. Cass said they shouldn’t wait until then and called out Bryan. On Smackdown, Bryan faced Rusev in a Money in the Bank qualifier. Rusev kicked Bryan in the face to win the match. A week later, Bryan talked about his loss, saying he will work hard to get back to the top. Cass interrupted, saying he was Bryan’s first major setback after he returned. He’s the reason he lost to Rusev and he’s going to be the reason he will continue losing because he will make sure he won’t achieve his dreams anymore. He said he didn’t tap out because of the pain, he tapped out to get out of the hold fast and beat him down, saying he will continue beating him down, adding that he eliminated him in the rumble, calling him a loser.
