I am an old guy who used to rent indy movies on vhs through the 90s. It has been a long long time since I have seen an independent movie, if this is still considered that, that I have been excited about after watching. Unique movie that is uniquely made. It does have that 2 person play converted to a movie but in a positive way. This rated as a 6 is a misjustice but it also a sign of the times. As you probably know it's about a man and a woman who are lost in space and are debating on "banging". That's only half the movie. There is an entire part 2 that is just as good even if it's a bit predictable. IT IS DONE SO WELL YOU DONT CARE!! Great movie.
The movie made me sad for their other partners. It was fair. It was selfish and heartless. I would want any family or friends of mine to watch such a back staying movie. The partners didn't deserve what they got in the end after three horrible years of waiting. The movie would have made me happier if they had returned to their original partners. The move was also kind of childish, its as if people don't care about who they first loved. Their new love is nothing but infatuation and not real. Their real love is with their formal partners. Thus movie shouldn't be taken seriously because it might end breaking hearts.
As an "actor", Anthony Mackie might fill the suit of the slightly cocky and selfassured Falcon in the MCU. Ok, this movie is by no means a high budget one, quite the opposite. It's a low-budget project that most likely was written by someone in their early teens and now finally realized as a full length movie. In my opinion, it should have stayed as a short story since the entire synopsis makes for less than 30min of any kind of scripting. Add to that a very predictable ending and some very ... VERY uninspired support roles, and the best I would say about this movie, is that the other main character at least is a fresh and believable character ... worth fast-forwarding and watch the movie for just to say "I saw here before she became famous".
First of all, I will say, ever since I watched Twisted Metal on Peacock, I fell solidly in love with Anthony Mackie! So, I am probably going to like anything he stars in. But, here, he shares the screen with an equally wonderful actor, Zoe Chao. And they make wonderful music together, and their dancing was out of this world sexy! As for the story, it was actually more imaginative than I expected. The space ship and its broken down engine is not the main focus of this story and I am amused at a few reviews in here who called the production values cheap and that more should have been spent. NO!! You missed the whole point of this sweet story if you thought the space adventure and anything surrounding it, was in any way the point of this movie. Simply put, it was a love story. Period! And had it been anyone but these two playing the parts? It might not have worked. But they both made this movie and the ending, 15 stars for the ending scenes. It was beautiful and it is what love truly is all about!! Highly recommended, even though they could have cut about 15 minutes out of the film (and why I didn't rate it higher), it is still worth watching if you are looking for a sweet and real love story in the mess of slasher and horror movies being offered right now!
Spectacular love story that makes you believe that there is someone out there who you are meant to he with. It casts love and romance in a completely different shadow. The actors do an incredibly remarkable job of bringing the characters to life, you really feel like you're witnessing a new love growing and evolving before you. It gives you hope, hope that bonds like this, love like this, can truly exist. The fact that the director didn't waste any time with CGI or overly elaborate sets, helps you focus on the characters relationship. By the end of it, you just laugh and smile the whole way through...
I've never heard of Zoe Chao, but she is quite charming! And this is probably the first non-Marvel movie with Anthony Mackie that I actually enjoyed. Together, they make this idea work. And the levity of the interesting visuals works as a nice contrast to the seriousness of the situation, and it's quite different from my expectations.. which further assisted my enjoyment very much. It's rather simple, but very personal. Goes to show that you don't really require a gigantic budget, when the idea and execution can properly entertain you for 1 hour and a half. Easy recommendation for anyone looking for "Comedy + Romantic + Sci Fi" story.
