This is when The Undertaker couldn’t stop Brock Lesnar. In August 2002, WWE Champion Lesnar became exclusive to Smackdown. Later that night, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle and Taker met for a chance at the title. Taker hit Benoit with the Last Ride to win the match. A week later, Lesnar and Taker met face to face. Lesnar started mocking Taker’s age, who said he hasn’t been tested yet and haven’t been taken where he will take him. Paul Heyman said Taker has a pregnant wife at home, adding that if anything happens to him, he will take care of her but refuses to take care of his unborn child, and Taker absolutely lost it. A week later, Taker was getting ready for Matt Hardy, who knocked on Lesnar’s door and they left together. During the match, Heyman found Sara and Taker ran backstage. He went right after Heyman, Lesnar hit him with a chair and put Sara against the wall. A week later, Heyman told Stephanie that he hired security. Stephanie said Sara went into false labor and Taker is going to be furious. Heyman convinced Lesnar to leave the arena and when they were about to, Heyman realized Taker might be waiting in the parking lot and they decided to stay. Then Taker called out Lesnar and he appeared. Lesnar went after Taker, who fought back and threw him out. Matt attacked him, Taker knocked him down and took him out, while Heyman and Lesnar were leaving. When Taker went after them, he was stopped because Lesnar was put into protective custody and they left the arena. They met at Unforgiven, where they crushed the ref in the corner, ending in a double disqualification. On Smackdown, Funaki asked Lesnar about a rematch, who told him to meet him in the ring. Funaki came out with the chair Taker hit Lesnar with. Lesnar took a good look at the chair, tossed it and went after Funaki and proceeded to absolutely destroy him. Then Taker faced Matt Hardy, who intervened in their match. Taker hit Matt with the Last Ride to win the match and Lesnar instantly hit him with the title and Taker was bleeding everywhere.
