On August 25, 2018, the M-1 Challenge 96 international tournament took place at the M-1 Arena in St. Petersburg. He defeated three foreign fighters, fought to a draw with the tenacious Korean Yong Bok Kil in his debut, and delivered the fight of the year against Nate Landwehr, in which both opponents brutally beat each other, with the initiative constantly changing hands. The future M-1 Challenge featherweight champion from the United States won that fight by a majority decision. But Viktor was determined to reach his arch-rival and take the coveted title from him through a series of victories, and for now, another powerful American fighter stood in his way.
