This is no masterpiece but it's still entertaining. I would have liked more car chases but the one that were actually in the movie were good. Leaving the theater, it's was quite hard not to do some speeding on the way back home! 7 out of 10.
Gone in Sixty Seconds is an exciting thriller packed with loads of action. Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, and Scott Caan made great performances. Dominic Sena did a terrific job on directing the movie. Even though the critics gave a bad rating, I recommend that you watch it,because the film isn't that bad at all. I give Gone in Sixty Seconds a 10 out of 10!!!!! :)
When a film offers up Nicolas Cage, Giovanni Ribisi and Angelina Jolie in the main roles and the three of them cannot save it, that's what I would call a sad & sorry situation. That's unfortunately what we have here - an irreemable, cliche-ridden, soggy mess of a film which winds up going nowhere and taking an extremely long time to get there. The title is perfect though, because when you see it, the thought of it remains in your mind but then it's...you guessed it...gone in 60 seconds.
Another Hollywood "Blockbuster for Dummies" movie. Minimal plot, laughable dialogue, lots of eye candy. Why bother thinking up a plot when you can just do a remake? Looking at still images you might think this was a good movie. It makes for a good billboard / trailer / slurpee cup but not an entertaining experience. The cars are gorgeous. Fast forward through the non-action parts of this movie; you won't be missing anything. Then go watch The Italian Job with Michael Caine for a truly excellent car chase action movie.
Here is another God-awful big budget piece of junk from Hollywood. The action was like every other Summer blockbuster and the dialogue was ridiculous. The screenwriter was obviously a WGA hack and director Dominic Sena has only made one good film ("Kalifornia",check it out) in his entire MTV video filled career. So these days he merely creates stylish movies with no story structure. While I have never seen the original I will still recommend that you watch that film instead because it couldn't possibly be any worse than this hip pop-culture modern version. I gave this movie 1 star out of 10 because there is no 0 rating, but this movie doesn't even deserve the star that I gave it.
When I watched the trailer of Gone in Sixty Seconds on TV I was quite looking forward to see this movie. However, after I did, I was very disappointed. I had expected a kind of "Bullit 2000". I can't help myself, but there are far too few cars scenes in this movie, and the big chase at the end wasn't as exciting as it had looked like in the trailer. It seems to me like they have forgotten how to put suspence into movies nowadays... not to talk about a story...
