Even a tubby man like me (according to some social media comments) can enjoy a heavy bag session, and in this heavy bag workout I'm hoping that you get some ideas to theme your rounds. In this heavy bag workout I am following a simple theme. First, I want to be mobile, so I'm using my feet to continually shift position. Second, I want to keep things at long and mid-range - basically I don't want to get up close with a physically stronger opponent. Finally, I'm going for 60% to 80% in my punch power. This allows me to conserve energy better and operate at a higher punch volume. There's all kinds of ways to theme your heavy bag workout. You can go for emulating your favourite boxer, you can apply a specific boxing style, or you can go for particular boxing techniques or boxing skills. Whatever you choose, applying a theme to your heavy bag workout can be a real-game changer and can make your beginner boxer journey much more rewarding and effective.
