🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: SAN ANTONIO (January 13, 2016) – Undefeated Miguel Flores (19-0, 9 KOs) earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Mario Briones (27-5-2, 20 KOs) in a 10-round battle during Premier Boxing Champions’ Toe-To-Toe Tuesdays on FS1 and Boxeo de Campeones on FOX Deportes, live from the Dancehall in San Antonio. The judges scored the bout 98-92, 100-90, and 100-90 in favor of Flores. Briones, fighting in the United States for the first time, was slowed in the fifth round after being struck by a low blow, forcing a brief pause in the action. As the fight resumed, a cut on Briones began to worsen. Flores, who was also dealing with a small cut above his left eye, took command in the sixth round and dictated the tempo early. Still, Briones refused to back down, rallying back with determination to push the fight forward. By the seventh, both men were bleeding from cuts over their left eyes as they exchanged heavy shots in a desperate attempt to turn the tide. Flores was later hit low as well, but neither fighter gave an inch, showing tremendous grit to carry the fight into the later rounds. The eighth round featured fierce toe-to-toe exchanges in the center of the ring. In the ninth, Briones appeared to control the range and found success working on the inside. However, as the round closed, Flores surged back with urgency, making it clear he would not be denied.
