This meal is perfect for date night, family dinner, or just treating yourself! Pan-Seared Steak with Creamy Mashed Potatoes Ingredients For the Steak: • 2 ribeye or NY strip steaks (about 1-inch thick) • Salt (to taste) • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste) • 2 tablespoons butter • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary • 2 cloves garlic, smashed • 1 small shallot, sliced • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for initial sear) For the Mashed Potatoes: • 4 large russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and chopped • Salt (to taste) • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste) • 4 tablespoons butter • ½ to ¾ cup heavy cream (adjust to desired creaminess) ⸻ Instructions 1. Make the Mashed Potatoes: 1. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt. 2. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes. 3. Drain and return potatoes to the hot pot. Let them sit for 1–2 minutes to steam dry. 4. Add butter, salt, pepper, and heavy cream. Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
