Philo Wallace produced a sensational attacking innings, smashing 79 runs from just 58 balls with a succession of magnificent straight drives. West Indies raced to 143 for 1 before Wallace was unfortunately run out in bizarre circumstances. Pakistan fought back to restrict the scoring, but the damage had already been done. The West Indies then used their spin-heavy attack brilliantly on the Dhaka surface. Keith Arthurton was the standout performer, bowling with accuracy and eventually dismantling Pakistan's middle order to earn Man of the Match honours.
