This is when Jeff Hardy and Sheamus met in a bar fight. In April 2020, Sheamus squashed Cal Bloom. The commentators were talking about Jeff’s return instead and Sheamus was visibly frustrated. A week later, Sheamus squashed Denzel Dejournette. Sheamus was hearing Michael Cole talk about Jeff again and confronted him, saying that he’s the most dominant wrestler on Smackdown and he’s talking about Jeff, telling him that he won’t be disrespected. Next week, Sheamus also squashed Daniel Vidot. Cole was talking about Jeff again. Sheamus appeared, took off his headset and just stared him down. A week later, Sheamus squashed Leon Ruff, confronted Cole again, asking if he’s going to talk about Jeff again, who said that they have to. A return vignette was shown for next week and Sheamus said that he will be there. Jeff returned a week later and talked about it while Sheamus was making fun of him backstage. Jeff called him out and he appeared. Sheamus said everyone is tired of Jeff, adding that Jeff’s next failure is right around the corner. Sheamus went after Jeff, who then fought back, hit him with the Twist of Fate and followed by the Swanton Bomb. Next week, Sami Zayn was stripped of the Intercontinental Title and a tournament was announced. A week later, Jeff announced he’ll win it and he faced Sheamus. Sheamus went for the White Noise, Jeff countered him and pinned him to advance. Next week, Elias was in a car crash with the driver fleeing the scene. The police found some booze in the car and the rental was on Jeff’s name. Jeff was found under the influence in the bushes, got arrested and he was shocked to see Elias on the stretcher. Then he was put in the police car. Adam Pearce announced a battle royal to take Jeff’s place in the tournament, where Sheamus last eliminated Jey Uso to win the match. Then he faced Daniel Bryan in the next round. Sheamus went for the finish, Jeff appeared, distracted him and Bryan hit him with the running knee to advance.
