Considered a pivotal PPV event for the WWF, the show featured the end of Shawn Michaels' "Boyhood Dream" when the Heartbreak Kid took on Sycho Sid. Shawn Michaels lost the WWF Championship during this event, and what's notable here is that the New York audience in attendance booed Shawn in favour for Sycho Sid. Elsewhere on the show, Stone Cold Steve Austin was able shine in his match with the returning Bret "Hitman" Hart. Stone Cold had been gaining a lot of attention in the run-up to Survivor Series, and fans were also eager to see Bret return to action ever since he walked away following WrestleMania XII. Bret Hart vs Steve Austin at Survivor Series turns out to be an absolute classic, with many fans preferring this encounter over their WrestleMania 13 Submission Match. The Undertaker also makes his return following In Your House: Buried Alive. A new and improved Undertaker promised to usher in a new age of darkness in the build-up to Survivor Series, and the Undertaker delivered just that in his match with Mankind.
