Athletes playing defense need to be able to strategically track the opponent’s offensive attack. In the second of three drill demonstrations on the topic, Tama Miyashiro, former Assistant Coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team, guides coaches through the “Over-the-Net Pepper” drill, with special focus on eyework for the passers/diggers. Miyashiro emphasizes the importance, depending on the level of your athletes, in providing frequent cues regarding setters’ and hitters’ body positions to read the attack.
