Publisher's Summary The time has come for one winner to be crowned. When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown - or to Prince Maxon's heart. Would you listen to The One again? Why?I doubt it. It was the best of the series but still not that super. What did you like best about this story?I really liked the addition of Georgia and that there was more purpose to the rebels. I wish there'd been more of that. I also liked how Celeste's character grew and the girls came together. Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Amy Rubinate?Allison McLemore is really great. She would've been way better. I really disliked Amy as narrator. She's just so constantly breathy she sounds like she's trying to seduce everyone. It's way too over the top. He voices for character OTHER than America were mostly ok though. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?Guess how many times their love wavers and win a prize!
Overall, I enjoyed this series. I got frustrated with America because it always felt like she was making the wrong decisions or just flat out not making decisions. Even at the beginning of this book, I felt like she still could go either way in choosing between Aspen and Maxon and I just wanted her to make a decision. But then, once the action got started, she seemed to stiffen up her spine and make decisions and even become ready to fight for a new way of life. I think Amy Rubinate did a great job with the narration and will definitely listen to other books narrated by her.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?Yes. I would love to recommend the complete series to all my friends and loved ones. No Kiddin'! I just did! Who was your favorite character and why?America! Celeste! Maxon! America! Celeste! Maxon! America! Celeste! Maxon! America! Celeste! Maxon! America! Celeste! Maxon! Which scene was your favorite? When you hold your breath when America took all her jewels and say to the thief "Go and pay your depth to the King!" I just love it.. like "LOVE" it!Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?Shock! Oh, you need to know that I was shocked! Any additional comments?Nope. See for yourself!
If you could sum up The One in three words, what would they be?Intriguing, imaginative, and romanticWho was your favorite character and why?America is a girl who is relatable to everyone. She is sassy and strong, independent and lovable. you find yourself rooting for her. What does Amy Rubinate bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? She tells the story in a way that makes you visually see everything. Her voice fluctuation is on point and she has distinct voices for all the characters that by this book you know who is speaking without her having to tell you.Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?I finished all three in just a couple days.seriously couldn't step away!Any additional comments?I hope that they make this series into a movie trilogy.I would love to see all the beauty described in full living color.
