Slaughter. The WWF had seen success with it's series of WrestleMania events during the mid 80s. As the company went into the 90s, Vince McMahon decided to give The Ultimate Warrior a chance to led the pack, becoming the WWF champion at WrestleMania VI. Hulk Hogan, meanwhile, would feud with Earthquake and Dino Bravo. As 1990 came to a close, another wrestler who just turned heel was grabbing a ton of media attention, and that wrestler was Sgt. Slaughter. With General Adnan by his side, Slaughter would win the WWF championship at the 1991Royal Rumble, setting up a WrestleMania match that would see Hulk Hogan challenge Slaughter in the main event.
