On Friday, February 21st, the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) welcomed John Kerry to discuss pressing global health issues, including the devastating impact of climate change. With an optimistic look towards the future, he reflected on his experience and advocated for change stating: “We can win back our future.” The event will featured a conversation between Secretary Kerry and Saad Omer, the Director of YIGH, centered on efforts to raise awareness, funding, and support for global health, including the impact of climate change.

On Monday, October 26th, the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) welcomed Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), to discuss COVID-19 updates with Dr. Saad Omer, Director of YIGH, and Robert Bazell, Adjunct Professor of Department of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology.

On Wednesday, November 11th, the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) welcomed Henrietta Fore, Executive Director of UNICEF, to discuss Child Health and Wellbeing with Dr. Saad Omer, Director of YIGH, and Dr. Linda Arnold, Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.

On Wednesday, December 2nd, the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) welcomed Dr. Bernice Dahn, Vice President for Health Sciences at the University of Liberia, to discuss rebuilding health systems with Dr. Kristina Talbert-Slagle, Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine and Associate Director at the Yale Institute for Global Health, and Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of HIV Clinical Trials at Yale School of Medicine.

Planet, People, and Prosperity: A Conversation With Achim Steiner, Administrator, United Nations Development Programme On Tuesday, March 30th the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) welcomed Achim Steiner, Administrator of the UN Development Programme, to discuss the nexus of the planet’s and people’s wellbeing and how COVID-19 offers a glimpse of our future with Dr. LaRon Nelson, Associate Dean for Global Affairs and Planetary Health at the Yale School of Nursing and Dr. Robert Dubrow, Associate Professor and Director of the Yale Center for Climate Change and Health at the Yale School of Public Health.

On Wednesday, April 14th, the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) welcomed Peter Salovey, President, Yale University; Elizabeth Bradley, President, Vassar College; and Firoz Rasul, President, Aga Khan University, discuss their responses to COVID-19 and share their views on the impact the pandemic will have on the future of higher education with Dr. Saad Omer, Director, Yale Institute for Global Health.
