Some people really don't like this film but I'm one who does enjoy this thrilling idea. The lovely Ki-joo Jin plays a deaf girl and also her mother whilst there is a serial killer around. True this is a simple idea with a half a dozen people and a few streets and running around as well as also in the girls' house, it is still very fast and very scary. Their impairment makes it difficult with a killer on the loose but at least they can talk together without the killer understanding. I love the fact that this takes so little to make it good and I loved it.
This is perhaps one of the most absurd movies ever made. It's about 100 minutes long, but I finished it within 45 minutes because I kept fast-forwarding it. And still, I regretted wasting 45 precious minutes of my life. The characters are just not believable. The victims lack credibility -- they seem just to wait passively to be killed by the psychopath. The Korean police come across as the most incompetent and laughable in the world. Korean people are presented as half-wits and simpletons. Not to mention the way women are portrayed as weak and helpless and totally without agency. All these illogical & preposterous developments so the director can keep the film crawling along until its predictable, unoriginal end. Do yourself a favor. Don't bother with this movie.
