After fans had watched Guerrero's stellar performances in WCW, his debut in the WWF as part of The Radicalz, his entertaining storyline with Chyna and his time in the Los Guerreros tag team on Smackdown, Eddie finally became the number 1 guy when he defeated Brock Lesnar at WWE No Way Out 2004. Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar had a very short build-up with the storyline only had 2 TV weeks to unfold. With only 2 episodes of Smackdown to tell their story, Eddie and Brock ended up taking part in some excellent promo segments. Eddie said that winning the WWE Championship would be his redemption, he saw the belt as an apology to his family that could provide his kids with a better life. Brock was more focused on making fun of Eddie Guerrero but it didn't take long for Lesnar to realise that No Way Out could feature his hardest fought match.
