A lot of wrestling fans don’t want to openly admit it, but there’s a growing belief that All Elite Wrestling seriously damaged parts of the foundation and overall essence of New Japan Pro-Wrestling over the last several years. And honestly? Deep down, even many hardcore AEW fans probably know there’s truth to that. NJPW once felt completely unique — from its presentation, sports-like atmosphere, roster identity, and overall mystique. But after the crossover relationships, talent movement, booking influence, and constant dependence on Western attention, many longtime fans feel NJPW slowly lost part of what originally made it special.
