Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) was dropped four times before being violently stopped. He entered the bout riding the momentum of a unanimous decision victory over former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June and had reeled off six consecutive wins since his only previous defeat—a split-decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) reminded the boxing world of his devastating power. After surrendering the WBO, IBF, and WBA heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021 and falling short again in their rematch 11 months later, the British powerhouse bounced back with four commanding victories before suffering a stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
