South Africa posted a formidable 326 for 3, led by Graeme Smith’s brilliant 84 and explosive innings from Jacques Kallis and Jonty Rhodes. Kallis smashed 80 from just 58 balls, while Rhodes blasted 71 from 50 as the pair added 131 runs in only 92 balls. But Australia came out attacking from the very first over. Adam Gilchrist smashed 52 from just 27 balls, taking Australia past 100 in only the 12th over. Despite losing three quick wickets, Ricky Ponting and Darren Lehmann took complete control of the chase.
