According to a new report, Gunther was originally planned to face Rey Mysterio following his feud with Dragon Lee. This would have fit perfectly with his “Career Killer” persona, especially since Mysterio is a Hall of Famer nearing the end of his career. However, Mysterio suffered a rib injury before the Royal Rumble, and his status for WrestleMania is still uncertain. As of now, WWE reportedly does not have a backup plan for Gunther.
