As a lover of ghost movies, this one was dull and humdrum. Don't waste your time!
A creepy, fun thrill ride featuring a wonderful central performance by a mesmerising actress. The mysterious goings-on keep you guessing until the end. I really enjoyed the artful way in which they did the haunting. Very effective and recommended.
I wasn't enthralled with the movie at all. It wasn't scary. In fact most of the time it seemed boring. Can't give it more than a 3/10
This was pretty great English melodrama take on a paranormal movie. Was it a high budget? No. But the practical fx made me happy and the acting lives in a space that I find oddly enjoyable. This ghost dad is very pissed off! But what a great character motivation to have it be from essentially PTSD or shell shock or whatever we are calling it now. AND HES COMING FOR YOUR SON. love it. Psychotic ghosts are always the best ghosts in my book! Worth a watch if you are in a mood or some fun spooky English times.
DEADLY INTENT is a really fun and mysterious ride! As some other reviewers wrote, Deadly Intent is seriously scary. Whether it's paranormal activity at home or losing a family member, it ratchets up the tension at every turn making this a great indie psychological thriller that veers into paranormal horror seamlessly. The story sets itself up and just when you think you know where it's going, it keeps you guessing and engaged. Additionally, this film feels like a big-budget film, technically flawless, with exceptional performances, Deadly Intent delivers the goods! Cheers!
Dad dead. Mom a basket case. Boy is withdrawn. Furniture moves. Dishes break as well as other low budget effects. Plot drags along with a "twist" that is expected. Film was tiresome. Lara Lemon only thing worth watching. Guide: F-word, sex. No nudity.
DEADLY INTENT is another non-event of a ghost story, made on an indie budget and with absolutely nothing to recommend it. It's a small-scale domestic drama made in Britain and exploring the subject of grief, as a soldier's death abroad leads a mother and her child into a downward spiral. When mysterious events start to surround the boy, the mother begins to suspect that the husband's ghost is the root cause. Very little happens here and the novice cast members simply aren't up to the job of convincingly delivering their dialogue. The end result? Nothing more than a boring mess of a movie.
The makers of the film use all the tricks of horror/psychological thrillers: messed up kid, clueless woman, doors slamming, killed pet, shadows, quick glimpse of ghost, curtains blowing, eerie music, falling items, None are used effectively. Along with an inept script, all this ads up to a pretty boring movie. Just one question though: what does the aunt do that she can afford such a large house with such fine furnishings? Is she a lottery winner or what?
When her husband dies Bryony tries to rebuild her life with her young son James. The young actor who plays James provides a terrific performance. James in typical movie fashion starts acting weird and withdrawn. Although parallels could be made to something like "Babadook" and even "Kill List" this UK chiller really does stand out on its own. Some really good performances help enhance the quality of the script. Although there are some jump scares here and there they do not overdo it. Kudos to the crew as for a low budget independent film they do a very good job
My quick rating - 2,6/10. I am on a roll today. Another boring movie, this time with a ghost of a father killed during wartime coming back to reclaim his son. Stuff falls off shelves, toys move around, things go missing....seems like what happens in everyones house, really. This big huge ordeal (read the IMDb plot, makes it sound like it is) is just there. Since the ghost is evil, I guess the entity is a better word. But in the end, this is just dumb. Bonus point for the scene where the mother tries to use a makeshift ouija board out of a household glass and the words yes and no written on paper. They should've used cgi for that to make this movie more ridiculous. The bad part is, I bet the film makers actually were trying to be serious about this film. I am serious when I say, don't waste your time unless you are related to someone involved in it.
