this is the second soo-young kdrama I've finished the first one was IDOL I and i enjoyed it a lot. that's why I'm on soo young kdrama marathon.
i laughed so hard when someone replied that it was a happy ending then a asteroid came to destroy earth HAHAHA EPIC
This is one of those dramas with more potential the longer the series is. Very cute and emotional concept containing most of kdrama favorite cliches: illness, childhood trauma, shared past, destined love, school bullying.... Well executed for the length and you will be left satisfied with how everything is panned but I cant help but think the potential this script has. Maybe in the future they will actually make it a normal 16 episodes length drama. The romance is well pace and is well explained with flashbacks of the past but I couldn't feel chemistry, maybe due to the length of this series, with only 4 episodes, had loads to tell but little time to do so. The kids acting here are quite good and they make you smile. I still enjoyed it and because its so short you can watch it in one sitting.
Korean Drama " Fanletter, Please " is a short and sweet drama. The story is generic, yes, but it has plenty of sweet moments. Not as many romantic though, as it focuses on the relationship between the child and his father as well as the celebrity's struggles with fame and her background. Unfortunately, and due to the short length of the drama, the story doesn't get deep into the characters' personalities and struggles, like the relationship of the actress with her mother. Rather, it keeps things in a balanced blend of fluff and melodrama. On the other hand, the performances are enjoyable by all actors and actresses of the cast. So, overall, six out of ten.
Note that on Viki this is titled "Fanletter, Please." I am rating this knowing it is a 4-episode series. It can't be judged like one would judge a 16 episode series, where they have much more time to develop the story, background, and characters. It is more like a movie than a series, time wise. The story itself is nothing special, but it is cute. I like the premise. I am always amazed at the child actors in Kdramas - just how good they are. That was one reason I wanted to watch this series - it looked like it featured a child as a core part of the story. And it did, and the kid, or actually all the kids, were amazing! The ML's daughter was so darn cute I bet she'll be a star for a very long time. I really like the execution of the story and really enjoyed the acting. If was fun! Yes, it had the requisite backstory of drama and trauma, but it was handled tastefully and did not dominate the story. I want to avoid spoilers, so I'll just say I enjoyed this short series and I would recommend you give a try if you are looking for something short and sweet.
