Funny People 🔥
source: Funny People
I thought it was a great feel-good movie! It was very funny, at times serious. A must see, I would definitely recommend seeing it on a rainy Friday date night.
What a f u c k i n g pile of dog $hit this 'movie is Adam Sandler, you are not funny, and never have been. Same goes for you Seth Rogan. Every * sucker in this abomination just loves themselves, and the funniest thing about this film is that they all think they are funny. I was utterly bored watching this scum of the earth film, utterly bored. Why was it made? Even more so, why did I hire it out on DVD? Funny People is nothing more than a vain, self indulging, chauvinistic, shallow, pretentious, disgusting waste of viewers time. A 100% waste of your time. No wonder American comedy is completely $hit, all they can come up with with is pathetic sit-com's and movies that always rely on juvenile toilet jokes. Boring. I warn you strongly to avoid this drivel like the plague.
Funny people? There is little that is funny about this movie. The story includes some comic scenes but essentially is a drama about a sad man who uses comedy to act out his cynical attitude toward people and life. It is the character's cynicism that undermines any effort to keep the movie on a comedy tract. Adam Sandler gives a strong performance as a troubled comic who is struggling with some serious issues. Seth Rogen is also strong as the comic's sidekick and flunky whose presence provides some comic relief. The movie includes amusing stand up comic routines by both Mr. Sandler and Mr. Rogen, but after these scenes it reverts to its dramatic and rather drab theme. Eric Bana is wonderful as the jilted husband but even his energetic performance does not rise to the level of comedy. This movie is proof that combining comedy and drama can be risky project and if not done properly can lead to a wishy-washy cinematic product.
If you like cheap, crude sex jokes and long-winded dreariness, you'll love this film. The basic premise of the film is sound but it's stretched out far too long and is cheapened with an overdose of filthy humour that's so non-stop and over the top it's just not funny any more. The film has a good cast but the script is so flat that there are no interesting performances. Sandler acts his usual stereotyped, weary loudmouth character and Rogen plays the usual nerdy, funny guy. Unless I'm mistaken, this movie is just a vehicle for Sandler's ego with very little substance to it. The dialogue is really quite astounding in that virtually every sentence includes multiple uses of the F-word for no good reason.
If you like this idea, and like crude junior high 'comedy' this movie is for you. Not one likable character, a lot of messed up people feeling sorry for themselves. I sure hope the actors and director, and producers enjoyed their therapy; I did not enjoy being their victim. A big fat waste of time. The 'comedy' was gross, the characters all self-absorbed whiners, the plot was predictable. If I would have engaged with the movie I probably would have needed therapy myself after this two and one hour tour of misery and crudity. If you are miserable, and love company, maybe this movie is for you.
I love comedies so let's explain shortly what is a comedy. A comedy is a genre of movies that is watched pleasantly, it makes you laugh and it's generally funny. What I watched definitely wasn't funny it was 2.5 hours of torment. I don't know why the movie is called funny people but funny is the last thing it is. My girlfriend fell asleep at the first 30 minutes of the movie but unfortunately the cinema seats weren't comfortable enough for her to sleep well. And now for the protagonist of the movie Adam Sandler. No matter how hard he tries the dude just isn't funny because to be funny you need to have TALENT!!!!!!!! Something he absolutely lacks. Not one single joke made me laugh and I'm not a person that doesn't laugh easily. I would never recommend for anyone to watch this movie. Believe me there are better ways to spend 2.5 hours, like watching a real comedy. For me it's bye bye Adam (to avoid misunderstandings I mean that I will never watch any of his movies again).
