source: Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves
Good family film only down parts the special effects not brill especially years after the first shrunk film thought the effects would have improved and story not as good but still worth a watch and good light hearted family fun for all
Another disappointing sequel. A very tired, been-there-done-that affair with shoddy special effects. A few funny moments, such as the God bit, but a mostly unsatisfactory end to the Honey, I... Trilogy. My advice, stick with the original and skip the sequels. The first Shrunk movie has much more going for it than either of the sequels combined.
In This installment, the continuallity was much more strong. Nick and Amy have moved out, and baby Adam is now in elementry school. But quark the dog wasn't here, and marcia strassman has been replaced with Eve Gordon. The Diane Szalinski in this one was bossy and inconsiderate, such as yelling that Adam's underwear is clean in front of everyone, and yelling TO HER HUSBAND, and getting the F.D.A., to get a court order forbidding wayne to use his own inventions. I don't have much to say about this one, but the spark of the previous movies is definatly gone.
Rick Moranis(Wayne Szalinski) is once again thrown into a turmoil of trying to solve another shrinking problem. Only it's not on his kids, his neighbor kids or his toddler. This time he done it to himself, his wife Diane(Eve Gordon),his brother Gordon(Stuart Pankin) and his wife Pattie(Robin Bartlett). So what does a whole family of Szalinski's to do when they get in contact with big shoes, huge bugs and sick party goer children? They do their best to make us laugh more and more and more. Do they get themselves back to normal to stop their kids from sending themselves to jail? Watch to see. Rick Moranis is the only one that remains the same all the way through this funny series.
I just saw this movie recently with my boyfriend. This movie was okay; it was funny, but not half as great as the 1989 "honey we shrunk the kids". The only actor I believe to be from the first movie (or even the second) was Moranis. The actress that plays Diane is too young to be the same mother that was played by Strassman, who is much older and does not look anything like her. The movie was kind of funny and creative though. I guess since they had amovie with the kids being shrunk and blown up, they had to do one with the adults. But the first movie was made a decade before and the second one was made like five years before, so it was like the first one (and maybe the second one) was forgotten by the time this movie came out. I mean when the second one came out, it was only a few years later, so the same genration of children were still familiar with it. But I guess it kind of brought the first movie back so the next generation of children could enjoy the Szalinskins.
First movie of the franchise is quite popular, second one is hilarious, this third one is midway, some are considering it a disappointment guess because some characters from original movie not in it. Adam Szalinski is grown up preteen and he's played by Bug Hall (I remember him as smitten Alfalfa in children's movie The Little Rascals). Instead of the children accidentally shrunken and desperately trying to get their parents attention, this goes the opposite which is quite interesting. Eve Gordon is quite an hilarious and great replacement of Marcia Strassman.
This film is preety bad. The only member of the original cast left is Moranis and he is very poor in this movie. To be fair him and the rest of the cast try their best but fail miserably thanks to a diabolical script. The effects are OK, but there is a stupid subplot about a boy trying to go out with a girl at a party and it just doesn't work. Anyway, there were one or two moments I found funny but other than that it was crap. The parts which are most annoying are the scenes with the teenagers which were compeletely unbearable. It seems that Rick Moranis can only get work through this movie and he may now need to move into TV if he wants to get anywhere.
