Ignore the Fake reviews left by the cast and their family member!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously!!!!!!!!!! This MOVIE was Horrible. Stupid. Slow. Incoherent. Boring. Idiocy. Illogical. Bad music. Bad vibes. No storyline. DO NOT WASTE ANY OF THE PRECIOUS LIFE YOU HAVE WATCHING THIS PURE 100% GAAAAARBAGE!!! Only thing it had was a decent actress who was left with a crappy script to make something out of. Literally bottom 10 movie of all time. Not scary at all!!!!!!!!!!!
This film reflects on the shame, guilt, fear etc. Placed on women since the dawn of time mixed with some truely nightmarish imagery. Garland's film continue to amazing me and he continues to be one of my favourite writer/directors working today. To begin with the English countryside so is beautiful, it was as if I could smell it, touch it. Slowly Harper through the men in the village is belittled, shamed, made to feel uncomfortable. It really captured that feeling of walking home in the dark, of just picking up the pace a little for your safety. The images of the apple tree, the Greenman reminded you that women have been placed in these positions for eons. Yet the female figure - Sheela na gig and the end sequence reminds you that all men are birthed from women, women who they treat in these ways. This film truely scared me and amazed me. I wish more would see this film. While it could be read in many different ways, that is also what makes it so amazing, I would love to discuss this film with someone, to pick apart every moment, to see it again and find new clues or meanings. Highly recommend.
Immerse yourself in a not uncommon story of a woman fighting her demons after aggressive and confrontational encounters from her partner resulting in tragedy and guilt. An outstanding performance from Jessie Buckley through a piece of cinema that leaves you feeling constantly uncomfortable, and under no illusion of how abuse perpetuates through the ages, in many guises, and is ultimately so difficult to contain.
Is alex garland lars van trier in sheep"s clothing. Whoever it is hates women and paying customers. A woman witnesses the suicide of her husband, goes to the english countryside. Bad things happen, or do they. One mess of a movie. You have been warned.
