A solid independent film from a driven group of filmmakers. Definitely not letting the Horror genre down. Give it a go, you wont be disappointed!
The dinner party was a wild mix of gore and suspense. Outstanding cinematography and wardrobes. Soundtrack fit perfectly. Go watch it Miles and the cast have a hit home run with this one!
Interesting, dark, disturbing, weird, twisted, yet very entertaining. This film kept my attention and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I recommend riding the roller coaster!
The Dinner Party, produced by Historia Films, is a wonderfully-layered horror/thriller, beautifully shot by cinematographer Michael Williams, deftly paced by editor Keith Jared Hollingsworth, and strongly acted with nuance by a well=cast company of actors. Miles Doleac shows a sure hand and sophisticated story-telling eye. As a horror film, The Dinner Party is both enticing and frightening. Underpinning the terror and gore is a beautiful story of coming to terms with past traumas and discovering how those traumas create present horrors and mayhem.
Beautiful, intelligent, and blood-stained! If this type of movie is your type of movie, then this movie is your movie.
Playwrite Mike Mayhall (Jeff Duncan ) and his shy wife Haley (Alli Hart) attend a dinner party by a perspective angel. We can tell what will happen when they have to surrender their phones. As a slasher dinner party film, this is about par for the course except they had better characters. The scriptwriter knew his operas as well as theology the latter of which tends to get tread on by pop-culture notions. I appreciated the details. Guide: F-word. No sex. Nudity (Lindsay Anne Williams, Kamille McCuin )
This is the kind of horror that gets the blood pumping through my veins. This is horror that is dialogue and character driven up to a point until it finally gets a little crazy and the gore floods in. Everything about this horror gem was well designed, from the tight script to the well done cinematography to the acting to the characterization. Without a good story and character buildup horror films bore me so kudos to these guys. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This is one effective little movie. Happy to have watched it. Give it a look yourself.
I'm not impressed with this one. I generally love horror movies where you know something is off but you can't quite put your finger on it. I like movies where the tension builds slowly until it reaches some unforeseen end. Unfortunately, the subtlety required to pull off that kind of movie was missing entirely in this one because the characters were over the top. They were caricatures rather than characters. It is so obvious that something strange is going on that you're not surprised when everything goes to hell. And the ending is cheesy. It's too bad. It's an interesting story and it could have been a good film had it been done right.
This is a heck of a movie! Great acting, nicely edited and the cinematography was on point. Most importantly the winner is the storyline as it really had me on the edge of my seat. The awesome gore (as you would expect in a movie like this) was done right and again it was really suspenseful right to the end. Giving this a 9! A must watch.
