One of the best action films in recent years. The Furious stars Xie Miao and Joe Taslim, and has a distinctly Asian identity with a multinational cast. Most of the goons and townspeople speak Tagalog, making it feel close to home despite being set in a fictional Southeast Asian town. Human trafficking is a huge issue in Asia, so the story hits hard. The action is lethal without being overly bloody, making it a worthy successor to The Raid. The child actress Yang Enyou stole every scene she was in, while the rest of the cast delivered strong performances. The varied fight styles, different settings, and the first act car chase kept things fresh. I loved how the father stalled the enemies by throwing away the car key instead of relying only on his fists. The final act turns into an unforgettable three-way 2v2v1 battle with incredible camera movement and nonstop action. A must-watch for that fight alone.
