It is always nice to find out a person's personal story; Family one being such case in this documentary. The remainder of documentary brings very little new. On and off viewers of RPDR already aware of large majority shown here of Katya problematic. Trixie's off color humor is top three for me of RPDR queens gunning for Bianca Del Rio status. I am not a fan of Trixie's music genre heavily profiled here. Mad props for charting well with it, Have that talent to fall back on if needed. PS. I won't say who that appears in this documentary, but her doc is a must! 6/10
Along with giving you a no holds barred insight into the performer behind Trixie Mattel, this film truly gives a someone with no knowledge of drag a better understanding of the world of drag today. Also on the base level it shows a performer hitting major milestones in their career whilst having to deal with hardships in their personal life. I really loved this film and have returned to it several times since first watching it. I would recommend it for anyone to watch!!
Her music is great, such a talent. But I have to say the documentary was a little boring. I thought it would be a bit more of an autobiography of her life but it just followed her around for a few months on tour. The Katya story created some drama and juiciness. Without that not much would have happened. But in saying that I really like Trixie!
Film sets this mood throughout like devoid of glam, like it's all normal, ups and downs in career and friendship are no big deal, just projecting the total opposite of the celebratory, standing up for something kinda nature of RPDR. A bit like brokeback mountain--or maybe I'm dull and that's just country, 3 chords and the truth.
I am a big fan of documentaries and watch whatever I can get my hands on. This film was quiet disappointing, just some random footage of a confused man. I did not see any art in it neither I enjoyed it.
Brian's true nature and talent really shines in this documentary. He's someone who truly cares for the people in his life and is a true friend. It's so refreshing to see someone in the entertainment industry who is authentic and real. This film follows Trixie through extreme highs and extreme lows and highlights just how strong and beautiful he is. Beautiful inside and out. I was never a fan of drag before I discovered Trixie. Moving Parts is the only film I've ever purchased online and it was worth every penny! If you love Trixie you will love moving parts!
I once said to Trixie Mattel, "enjoy the ride" after her appearance on drag race. The look of hurt on her face shocked me and I've regretted saying it ever since. Her reply was ," I created this ride and I'm in control of it." Last night I rented Trixie Mattel's "moving parts" and I'm so thrilled I did! Get ready to jump into the drivers seat. What could easily be self indulgent, is a drag-a-liciously painted portrait of an artist who works non stop in order to live up to his self created flawless media persona and who consistently asks the question, "am I enough". The doc chronicles life on the road of a brassy drag queen , comedian , actor , singer, musician bombshell Barbie or a she calls herself "a thing" who at the end of the day is a sensitive artistic introverted perfectionist. One of the strongest messages of the film is about the ups and downs of loving someone with mental illness when they can't love themselves and the true meaning of friendship. Other themes include growing up as an outsider in a straight mans world, the bright yet sometimes Lonely life of a performer and the responsibility of becoming a gay hero. The film is a touching heartfelt look at a little boy who still plays dress up and used his weirdness to fulfill his dreams . Loved it.
