This is when AJ Styles fought Ricochet for the US Title. At Stomping Grounds 2019, Ricochet beat Samoa Joe to win the title. Ricochet was doing a photoshoot and Styles told him he’ll see him tomorrow. Next day on Raw, Styles was asked about the challenge. When he was about to explain, No Way Jose’s music started playing and he found Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows dancing with them. Ricochet wants to prove that he’s worthy against Styles and they met in a non-title match, where Styles hit Ricochet with the Phenomenal Forearm to win the match. Then Styles showed him some respect. A week later, Anderson doesn’t think Styles can beat Ricochet for the title and bet his hot Asian wife on that. Styles said that Ricochet is an amazing athlete and will remember his bet. Gallows explained to Anderson what just happened and he seemed a bit concerned. Ricochet talked about the previous match, saying that he can beat Styles if there’s a rematch and he got interrupted. Anderson said Styles could’ve embarrassed him, but he chose not to. Gallows told him that Styles already beat him mentally. Ricochet responded that he can beat Styles and they started laughing. Ricochet put his title on the line against them. Gallows said that it’s not for them but for someone else, while mocking him. Anderson told Styles that Ricochet said he can beat him any time and he’ll put his title on the line against him. Styles wanted to talk to him, Gallows said a talk is not enough, Anderson asked him where’s the Styles which he knew from Japan, he should walk up to Ricochet instead and slap him. Styles confronted Ricochet, saying that he will take the title from him. Ricochet didn’t know why he was so angry, he accepted the challenge and went for a handshake. Styles slapped Ricochet, who then slapped him back and they met in the main event. Styles hit Ricochet with the Phenomenal Forearm and pinned him to win the title.
