Alumni share their experiences and insights about making transitions from graduate school to careers within and outside academia. In this session, Dr. Lyndsey McMillon-Brown, research electrical engineer at NASA Glenn Research Center talks about her work and how institutions can make research spaces more inclusive. Joined by Danica Tisdale-Fisher, Ph.D. Assistant Dean for Diversity at GSAS, and Tarek Fadel, Ph.D., Assistant Director of the Marble Center for Cancer Nanomedicine at MIT.

Keynote speaker: Professor Akiko Iwasaki, Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor of Immunobiology and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and Professor of Epidemiology (Microbial Diseases); Professor of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology; Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Yale University Chaplain Sharon Kugler closes the ceremony with a benediction.

Dr. Robert Harper-Mangels, Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Support, explains the ins and outs of applying for fellowships and grants as a graduate student. Topics covered include applying for grants in a funded program, where to find opportunities, creating a realistic budget, requesting letters of recommendation, and more. The presentation is followed by a Q&A session moderated by Dr. Stephen Pitti, Director of the Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration.

Where Do I Go from Yale? is an annual event hosted by the Yale Graduate School Alumni Association (GSAA), the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and the Yale Alumni Association (YAA) Careers, Life, and Yale program. Featuring career panels, discussion groups, and networking, the event taps into the wealth of knowledge and experience of Yale GSAS alums who have gone before you. It is an opportunity to explore career pathways and consider the myriad opportunities available to Yale graduate students.
