On August 25, 2018, the M-1 Challenge 96 international tournament took place at the M-1 Arena in St. Petersburg. The future M-1 Challenge featherweight champion from the United States won that fight by a majority decision. But Viktor was determined to reach his arch-rival and take the coveted title from him through a series of victories, and for now, another powerful American fighter stood in his way.
