During the June 3 episode of AEW Rampage, CM Punk came to the ring and announced that he has a broken foot and will require surgery. That said, Tony Khan is not making him relinquish the title he just won at Double or Nothing. Instead, an Interim Champion will be crowned on June 26 at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door. Commentary later revealed that the upcoming episode of Dynamite will begin with a Battle Royale. The winner will compete once again in the main event against #1 ranked Jon Moxley, with the victor advancing to Forbidden Door for a shot at the Interim Championship.
