Publisher's Summary A belligerent springtide! Being the most powerful wizard in the world can be a challenge.... After defending his fledgling realm against the undead lord Gaja Katar all winter long, Count Minalan of the Magelaw faces a new threat in the spring: the Nemovort Shakathet, favored of Korbal, leading the mighty hordes out of the Penumbra. This time, Minalan faces a real strategist; one who drives his armies with purpose and efficiency. The road to war leads through Megelin Castle and the vulnerable lands to the south of Vanado. Old enemies will become allies, and old friends will become valuable assets. War, however, is not what is preoccupying Minalan; the knowledge of the end of the world is. As he broods on existential issues and debates with various goddesses and Alka Alon about Calidore’s fate, he must overcome his own fears and anxieties and impose order on the situation before everything goes into the chamber pot. The solution? Hire an Arcanist, a specialist in the obscure and trivial, to organize and investigate the many matters Minalan has to manage and bring them to order. ©2020 Terry Mancour (P)2020 Podium Audio

Many of the books in this genre follow the same pattern. Mancour has a unique style; the book doesn't end when you kill the level boss. I have said in previous reviews that this is a book written for process thinkers; in many ways it reminds me of Barbara Tuchman's 'A Distant Mirror.' The book is more than killing the level boss. These are family.
One of the best series to be hooked into.Great depth of character, an understandable and gradual introduction to the world created produced many delightful tales. Arcanist is a great addition to the saga. A reader may begin to wonder is there an end to this tale?
I had forgotten I pre-ordered this one, so was delighted to receive the notification that it was available.Immediately I was drawn back into the Spellmonger's world, full of memorable characters and compelling storylines. As usual, the narration is excellent, with Lee's voice now as comforting as that of an old friend. My only complaint at the time of writing this review is that I now need to again wait for the next installment!
This, honestly has to be the best book of the series. Terry Mancour has outdone himself with this one. Simply marvelous.
Terry Mancour has written another great book! The spellmonger series is a superb story line.
The worst thing about this book, as with the previous ones, is that I'm left wanting to know what happens next. I can't wait for book 13!
Another great book from the installment. Love the performance great story looking forward to the next installment👍🤗
This book is an in-depth telling of a single war. It is more narrowly focused and descriptive than previous but is definitely a Spellmonger book. (There's humor, goblin-squashing aplenty and even an F-bomb). This book has a darker tone and sense of foreboding. The computer Forseti, the Alka Alon, Prince Tavard, who is the more dangerous enemy and can anyone or anything be trusted? What of the only choice is to work with those who might betray you? The plot moves forward the world building and narrative, revealing secret histories that we have previously guessed at.Storylines that took several books to build up to are cleanly and sometimes hilariously wrapped up. Caswallen the Fox is back and vainglorious as ever, and a joy to behold as even more goblins are reduced to a fine, red mist.
i was expecting a little more story progressthatn a drawn out war and a couple meetings
thank you for writing this ( I do mean all ofthis) it is truly beautiful.
