In my opinion this is one of the best overall Adam Sandler movies. Not only is it funny and memorable but it also has some complexity and a good story line. Always worth watching it whenever it's on.
This comedy is mainly about character development. Adam Sandler's character, Sonny, is your basic clueless, rudderless slacker; sporting a bad attitude. I must admit that I initially discounted this production; abandoning it twice before my sister gave me her take on it. So I tried a third watching and got to appreciate what the production had to offer. My sister agrees with me that the major he downside for the film is: why did they find it necessary to have the kid speak like a toddler? Apparently in NYC five year old children are welcome in bars and all that's required to adopt a child is a single phone call. It doesn't matter if the child has no legal papers of any kind.
