This is a basic shadow boxing drill that you can practice at home to tighten your boxing techniques even without any training equipment. In this video I tie one hand wrap between 2 pillars, and have Paul bob and weave down the length of the wraps throwing jabs and crosses. And as he moves, Paul has to ensure that he is aligning his shoulders and punches in a straight line to the wrap, both when he throws his fists out, and when he pulls them in. The objective of this drill is to make sure that you are always hitting the target in a straight line to your body’s centerline, which is the most efficient path for the punch. You will hit harder, reaching the target in a shorter time, with less energy used. You can start with simple jabs and crosses first, and add in more combinations as you go along. Don’t forget your footwork too – power comes from the ground! Practice do not make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. Make sure that you are always training the right way and not cultivating bad habits!
