At the 2021 Harvard Business School virtual Graduation ceremony, Dean Srikant Datar addressed graduates, and presented the 2021 Alumni Achievement Awards to: Raymond T. Dalio (MBA 1973); H. Naylor Fitzhugh (MBA 1933) posthumous award; Udemezuo O. Nwuneli (MBA 2003) & Ndidi O. Nwuneli (MBA 1999); Terry W. Virts (GMP 11); and Deborah M. Winshel (MBA 1985).
Dean of Students Sam Bersola will emcee and introduce the 2021 GSAS Marshals, including Janani S. Iyer PhD ’21, who will speak on behalf of the graduates. Dean Emma Dench will address the graduates, and Chair of the Graduate School Alumni Association Council Marianne Steiner, MEN ’78, SM ’78, will recognize the four alumni recipients of the 2021 GSAS Centennial Medal. Individual graduates will be called in alphabetical order by program. Program order is as follows: American Studies Anthropology Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Planning Astronomy Biological Sciences in Public Health Population Health Sciences Biophysics Biostatistics Business Economics Organizational Behavior Chemical Biology Chemical Physics Chemistry and Chemical Biology The Classics Comparative Literature Earth and Planetary Sciences Regional Studies — East Asia East Asian Languages and Civilizations Economics Education Engineering and Applied Sciences English Film and Visual Studies Germanic Languages
Elizabeth Warren, U.S. senator from Massachusetts and the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law, Emerita at Harvard Law School, spoke at the Harvard Law School Class Day ceremony on May, 26, 2021. In her remarks, Warren outlined what she views as the greatest challenges in the United States today – economic inequality, a shrinking middle class, racial injustice, climate change, and threats to democracy itself – and encouraged students to use their education and influence to find new ways to address these issues in the future.
