Although Liu Lei has a Sanda and #kickboxing background, he has also successfully transitioned to #muaythai successfully. For example, Liu Lei participated in Topking World Series in 2015 reaching a spot in the semifinals. He also has an excellent record fighting abroad. During EM Legend 29 - London Station, Liu Lei defeated Vinny Church, who ranked first place in 72.5kg in Britain at that time. Later during EM Legend 33 - New Zealand he won two WKA gold belts with a brilliant performance, winning the 4-man eliminator event defeating Sam Haggit and Brook Sutton. Then last year on EM Legend 41 - King in the Ring New Zealand Station, Liu Lei faced rising star Arshia Ebadi, in a fight that ended in tie by judge decision. Liu Lei is a very complete striker with great physical stamina. During a match, he can perform at an intense rhythm for three rounds, attacking in all dimensions and not giving his opponent any breathing space. His favorite striking weapon is the knee and punch combinations, and his attacks have earned him his nickname “Soul Cutter”
