Singdam's Knee Guard | Defensive Muay Thai Techniques

Muay Thai highlight of Singdam O Aukritt’s knee guard against Yodkhunpon Sittraiphum. Yodkhunpon was a clinch-fighter who specialised in knee and elbow strikes. He applied heavy pressure on his opponents to force his way into clinch range to get his strikes off. In this fight, Singdam has the perfect game-plan to deal with Yodkhunpon’s height and range – to apply knee bars or knee guards to Yod’s mid-section and legs whenever they are in close quarters to shut down Yod’s attacks. Singdam throws attacking strikes such as knees and kicks, and immediately places his shin across Yodkhunpon’s body to protect himself from counters and from being man-handled in the clinch. Once the shin is in place, Singdam even scores knees and elbows of his own.
