While the group would receive new members in 1998, the original duo of Shawn Michaels and Triple H were really the trendsetters and groundbreakers. When HBK came back to the WWE in 2002, DX were not put together straight away but instead, Shawn and Triple H would have a highly acclaimed series of matches that spanned over years. In 2006, the decision was made to bring HBK and The Game together once again and allow D-Generation X to return to television screens. The reformation of DX was teased at WrestleMania 22, and over the next few weeks, Shawn and Triple H's paths would cross as they battled The Spirit Squad and The McMahons.
