The writing is uneven, the cinematography is odd (close-ups of wine glasses and barbells; camera not in line with the actor's eyes so it looks like he's looking elsewhere), and there are numerous montages that last way too long of actions to music without dialogue. And so much doesn't make sense! Don't bother rewinding, thinking you missed something; any background, relevant part, or connecting scenes aren't there. For example, Elle is missing, and the brothers leave to find her. The next scene, it's the next day, and she's in the house, like she never left, asking for a ride to the airport, and Wesley, who was out looking for her, opens the front door dressed in a sharp red suit (not what he left dressed in). If what I wrote doesn't make sense, understand that's how I felt most of the movie. I enjoyed family interactions and some of the actors, and those are the only redeeming factors of this movie.
This movie is weak and pointless. The acting isn't good except for the cousin "Blythe" (but terrible name) and the mom. So much didn't make sense, it was annoying. I waited for something to change my mind but that never happened. I was disappointed. The gift wrapping scene made me literally yell out "Seriously?!!" I hate leaving bad reviews but I couldn't help this one. It's amazing to me that everyone involved in production thought this movie was worth sharing. Why was there NO EFFORT put into filling out the details? For instance, Wesley was described as "well off" and "One of Carolina's most eligible bachelors" but all we saw was an average nice guy with a good job. Side note: his eyes often focusing slightly off from the camera just looked weird. I could go on... Just don't waste your time.
This is a movie. It is not the best but it is likeable and so in line with most lighthearted romance movies. The ending is predictable. You will definitely be pulling for the couple although the relationship moved very fast from just meeting to seriously in love and getting engaged. There were issues with the sound and it was not that exciting a movie. An average movie, one you would want to see to the end once you started watching. Of course there were a little obstacle along the way. The actress and actor in Family Matters did play brother and sister in this movie as they did in Family Matters and I for one was thankful they did not play husband and wife though they played roles that offer advice as a parent or older family member would. The acting was no worst than what you would see on a Hallmark or Lifetime movie.
I really wanted to like this movie, but the acting was just not good at all, with the exception of the cousin. I don't even know what was going on with the writing, because it seemed like they told 5 different people to write a scene for a Christmas romance and then put them together. It's like they ran out of time at the end and just said never mind what just happened 5 minutes ago, everything is fine!
It's tough for black films and it shows with something like this because I like the leads even though they seem inexperienced. The script was poor but i thought the acting was okay. I think it's funny when people say the story was bad because i would say the script was bad, not the story. All the hallmark movies are about either the male or female going back home for some sort of Christmas event. They followed the same playbook, but the movie was shot in a lower quality. Without proper funding these movies will always come out cheap looking.
1st learn to speak English 2nd at lest pretend to be half way intelligent. Just more "oh lets put it on the refrigerator" garbage getting a participation trophy for the god awfulness that is this CRAP!
If I could give 0 stars I would. This is a terrible movie. The plot is disjointed, the acting is poor. If you're looking for a nice Christmas movie this ISN'T it ! I watched it hoping it would improve but sadly it didn't ! Your life is too short so don't waste your time watching this one !!!
The main character, Elle was a mean b*tch . She was mean for no reason and the acting was terrible. I tried so hard to enjoy it, but I could not get past this character.
What can be said about this one. The story is unrealistic and out of touch. The acting is bad and stiff. The sound is bad, the lighting is bad, the comedy is bad. Honestly this is the worst movie I've ever sat through. I guess they thought getting Laura and Eddie from Family matters was a draw so they put them on the advertisement and feature them in a few scenes and for some reason play they as brother and sister, I guess because of there past related roles, when they act more like husband and wife. The shirt 75 min run time is filled with about 30 minutes of musical montages where I guess they couldn't think of any dialogue. The funniest of these is watching several characters planning to wrap a gift for 5 minutes. This is a poor attempt at a bad movie. I would put this up against any of the famous bad movies and likely win.
