Surprising and highly entertaining indie action thriller with a solid laugh count. The beautifully executed action set pieces are particularly kinetic, directed with a fluidity and clarity that is rare to find even in higher budget fare.
The fight scenes are so friggin cool and I love the acting. Lots of talent in this piece. Congratulations to the filmmakers.
Completely unexpected gem. Clever story, good script, strong acting, fantastic fight choreography, decent cast (won't be known outside the UK, but all good), well paced, great action, witty lines well delivered throughout. I'm really blown away. Its minimalist in terms of sets and setting, and strangely rich in terms of film content - its really not your run of the mill action flick, but something far more clever and enjoyable. If you don't enjoy what this team have created, you really shouldn't be watching film as a medium. A well spent 2 hours of great entertainment.
A film that mixes comedy with violence and death in a way that constantly takes you by surprise. Not a dull moment from beginning to end..This what the British film industry does best...Ranks with "Lock stock and two smoking barrels".
A film crew is working inside an abandoned building that is set up for demolition in the morning. Also in the building is a crew of criminals setting fire to a man that is caught on their camera. The whole movie becomes film crew vs criminals. The film crew has a martial arts expert and a demolition person. The bad guys have bullets. The production had a humorous dialogue with characters you got to like. A sound man who complains about bounce, a yelling director, a cute coffee go-fer, etc. What was with the Montreal Expos baseball cap? This is a low budget film with not a lot of linear plot. In spite of that, I found it on the entertaining side. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
A refreshingly reflexive film hidden in an all-in-one night action movie. The mundane is transformed into the spectacular with sophisticatedly choreographed fight scenes which bring a dynamism to the screen. Go watch it!
Remember Judgement Night? This film compares itself to that movie, as it's about a group of filmmakers who find themselves on the run from a violent gang after watching them execute someone. Except there's one problem - they escape the building that they've been filming at, so they rely on their moviemaking skills, That means that the stuntmen must use their martial arts for real, the special effects guys start making real explosives and even the sound crew start making traps. Can they survive the night? The film is heavily influenced by films director and writer Marc Price grew up with, including Alien, Day of the Dead and The Goonies. He even looked to the lighting of Michael Mann and the way Jackie Chan's 80s films created their action scenes. Jean-Paul Ly, who plays Donnie the stuntman, is the kind of action star I didn't think we had any longer. His fights are amazing and he has charisma as well. I'm excited to see him in more movies after this. If you're looking for a tense thriller that has great hand to hand combat and characters you care about, this is your movie.
Cool film and a lot of fun to watch! Trailer was what drew me in to watch.
A good mix of comedy, action, and even a little bit of emotion! The fights are awesome, the set up is decent and the story carries through. Definitely recommended.
A must watch movie, with clear direction and great cast
