I saw this movie at the American Black FF last year and I just purchased it on Amazon. I watched a ton of movies last year because there was not much else to do, but this one was one of the standouts. I'd say top 10 of all the films I watched. It is NOT a romcom or a chic flick, so don't go into it thinking like that. It will have you feeling hot around the collar for some of it, but that's the point. I wasn't mad when the movie was over; I was really impressed. I hope I don't run into the lead guys on the street though. They acted a little too well. All in all, definitely a good watch.
No Ordinary Love fires on all cylinders with a story that goes back and forth with two families and showcases one theme and I will not spoil what that is. The acting was really perfect between all the leads, especially the cop. The directing and cinematography on this film is top notch as well. This movie needs to be watched because it really is good from the first frame.
I don't have super high expectations for independent film, based on experience. This film, though, is different. It is SO well crafted and really well acted. It deals with a subjection don't see a lot on but it's handled really well and it isn't preachy - which I hate. There are no "names" in here but it doesn't matter. Definitely worth the purchase price, and then some. I watched on AppleTV.
So I know people always think men like a particular kind of movie. This film doesn't fall into those stereotypical categories. My wife made me watch it with her. I didn't want to but happy wife, happy life, right? I watched it and I think 15 minutes or so into the movie, I was hooked and I stayed that way until the end. I did not see the ending coming. My wife said my math was open. I usually pick the movies, but this one earned her another pick.
I watched this film over the weekend and I was shocked. Honestly shocked. It is totally unpredictable and I probably experienced every single emotion there is. Lol. It was really intense in some parts, there's a little laughter but it's not a comedy or anything. Both couples were acted so well! I'm impressed. I'm guessing some of the lower star ratings (without actual reviews) are trolls. Ignore that and watch this film!
Derrick was a real SOB ! I would've stabbed him way before the accident. Very good movie.
DeAna Davis really brings it! A powerful presence and huge heart.
I attended the premiere of this movie at the Orlando film festival. Such an important film for all to see. It dives into very authentic portrayals of intimate partner violence. It can educate and bring awareness to this issue. It can illuminate and validate the experience of someone who may have lived or is currently living this experience. Most importantly, it definitely opens up the conversation on the topic.
