First up, I should mention that we went to the movies to see another show, but were directed to the wrong theatre. My reaction was to head out in search of the right place, but as my wife wanted to see this we decided to stay. At the risk of being seen as a grumpy old bloke, all I can say is that it was an afternoon of my life I shan't be able to live again. Essentially this is a "chick flick" for ageing women, and my wife loved it. I'll admit there were a few points where I managed a chuckle too, but beyond that I kept thinking of other places I could be.
Diane Keaton was sooo miscast . and. couldn't the hair people combed the leads hair ?.and excuse me but Rhea Pearlman on the big screen was hard to digest... u knew nothing about anyone's lives....even the choreograpy w the great Margueritte Derrick didn 't make it.....u know what it made me feel..sad....i have seen The Villages in Florida and that's what this looked exactly like ..it was great 2 c Pam Grier on the big screen ..she looks like a diff person but u learn nothing about her character.. their r other festured players who have no diogue and it seems no lives....this should have been fun...sexy...a bit naughty.... cannot recommend and I usually like everyrhing.
I took my granddaughter to see this movie because she was a cheerleader for many years. Thinking it would be fun to see senior women cheering. Little did I know that Diane Keaton's character would be dyeing of cancer!!!!!!! My granddaughter just lost her mother to cancer 1 week before. Wanted her to see a funny movie. All previews show comedy!!! Is listed Comedy!!!!! Never felt so uncomfortable watching a movie😢😢 Why couldn't it just have been a funny entertaining movie. Their is enough sadness in life😢
Yes it is formulaic. It's the whole rocky underdog female version.. But it has so many wonderful moments. Diane Keaton is her usual wonderful self.We laughed . We cried. Will it win an Oscar, no . But if you want a touching sweet movie that reaffirms what is important ion life go see this movie.
Waste of money, waste of space. DO NOT GO AND SEE THIS MOVIE YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
I am not one to normally write a review about movies I am usually the one looking at other reviews but I feel this time I had to. That was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It was hilarious, a great message, and might also make you cry. It is worth watching, you won't be disappointed.
We had seven friends in our group when we sat down to watch "Poms." It took about tens minutes into the movie when we all stood up and walked out. Absolutely disgusting, filthy language, not entertaining, and of a waste of money! There is nothing worth seeing our of hollywood anymore and the stench from their perverted cesspool of writers has reached an all time high. AND, they are the ones who think they know what is best for America??? Movies are getting lower and lower on our list of places to go for entertainment... very sad.
Left the theater feeling great, and grateful to all involved in the creation of this film. "Poms" is a joyous middle finger to cynicism and bitterness.
