The Roundup is basically a martial arts film, with a sumo Steven Seagal, which isn't a bad thing. The plot's good, the protagonist and antagonist are solid and the action sequences decent. However It suffers in other areas; characterization, dialogue and attempted humour. Though the manners line's repeatedly funny. They're detectives going against killers with machetes, carrying and being proficient with guns wouldn't go astray, but of course not it's a martial arts film. You don't care about anyone and it's not thought provoking, but neither of these things are a must for a film to be effective.
