Micky Flanagan: Live - The Out Out Tour

Like many comedians before I had seen the star of this show first on panel shows such as Mock the Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats, and then he went on to be a team captain on the show The Mad Bad Ad Show, and I was looking forward to watching his first stand-up comedy show. Micky Flanagan the popular long haired comic from the East End of London here plays to an audience at Cliffs Pavilion, Southend to tell some of the popular jokes I recognised and a few that I heard for the first time. His subjects are a range of different things, whether observational and based on his experience, including the Cockney/East End walk, going "out out", relationships and couples, women and sex, neighbours, an American mistaking his accent saying "come in your house" as "come in your ass", peeping in various forms, restaurants and much more. I really like him on the panel shows I had seen, and occasionally I have seen him do other stand-up comedy on shows, obviously I did recognise some of the stuff from before, but most of the other stuff I didn't was funny, he does know how to make you laugh, and this is a good enough comedy show. Worth watching!

Micky Flanagan seemed to appear out of nowhere, his first Nationwide Tour 'The Out Out Tour' is fresh, light hearted, extremely relatable and original. It is mainly light hearted humour but does contains come crude moments, nothing in comparison to some comedians but more adult orientated than Peter Kay for example. Micky Flanagan is a very likable guy, prior to making it in the stand-up business he was a working class, East London Window Cleaner and even though he has been propelled to fame, he stays very true to his roots. Many of his puns and stories are reflective of his pre fame days and his working class upbringing. He mocks the upper- class but then will go on to make jokes about himself making the switch from poor to rich and many of his stories are based on his own personal experiences or his observations of society while growing up. He tells stories rather than short punchline jokes and he also interacts with the audience in a friendly, teasing manner. He comes across as a very humble, appreciative man and this is what makes him such a nice, likable person. The Out Out Tour is a great DVD and I would recommend it to any stand up fan, Micky Flanagan will certainly make you laugh! 8/10
